Most of us will never own, or have the chance to sit behind the wheel of a 1959 Ferrari 250 TR. It is one of the most rare vehicles in existence with only a handful left in the world. It just so happens to be the boyhood dream car of master fabricator Peter Giacobbi. Giacobbi built this TR recreation to “experience what they experienced.” As a fabricator, engineer and builder, he knew no other way to achieve that experience than build one for himself.
Nearly every component, chassis, instrument and handmade aluminum body match the original ’59 TR. Pretty much everything but the motor is period and model correct. The original 3.0 liter motor was too hard to find so he swapped in a 4.4 liter and modified it to look like the original 3.0.
The car is gorgeous, the craftsmanship is phenomenal but most of all, Peter is living his dream. Spend some time watching the video and oh yeah, if you happen to live in Southern California, you’ll most likely recognize those streets he’s driving on. I’m hoping to run into Peter one day myself. Drive safe.
