Yamaha is unleashing two brand new side-by-side (SXS) vehicles aimed directly at serious off-road enthusiasts for 2016. The Wolverine R-Spec in Alpha White for those who want to play it rough and the Wolverine in Green for casual outdoor lovers. Both vehicles add to Yamaha’s existing lineup of SxS vehicles aimed at class-leading comfort and capabilities.
The 2016 Wolverine R-Spec adds Electric Power Steering (EPS), cast aluminum wheels, white painted plastics and aggressive graphics. It’s powered by a double overhead cam (DOHC), 4-valve, fuel-injected 708cc engine that has been tuned and optimized for better power delivery and engine character.
The Ultramatic fully automatic transmission offers high, low, reverse and neutral, in a class leading durable CVT transmission. A one-way sprag clutch produces a natural feeling all-wheel engine breaking and eliminates “freewheeling” often found in competitive models. On-Command 2WD, 4WD or 4WD full diff lock are available with a conveniently mounted dash dial.
An independent double wishbone suspension system provides 9.7-inches of wheel travel in front and 10.6-inches in the rear using KYB fully adjustable piggyback shocks. An 81-inch wheelbase and 11.4-inch ground clearance provide a perfect stance for getting up and over just about anything in your way. Exclusive Maxxis Bighorn 26×2.0 tires provide optimum traction, durability and comfort as well as steering precision.
All Yamaha Wolverine SxS vehicles are ready for long distance adventures with a 9.7-gallon fuel tank and a 300 pound capacity injection-molded cargo bed area. The new Wolverine R-Spec in Alpha White starts at $13,499 with plenty of factory options available.
Looking to spend a little less but still have loads of fun? Look to the 2016 Wolverine model starting at just $10,999. The new Wolverine provides great off-road capability and value. It is powered by the same engine as the R-Spec with Yamaha’s Ultramatic CVT transmission. On-Command 2WD, 4WD and 4WD full diff lock are also available via the dash dial. KYB shocks (non-piggyback) provide the same 9.7-inches of front suspension travel and 10.6-inches out back. You get the same great Maxxis Bighorn 26×2.0 tires and full skid-plates throughout the chassis (all models).
