After seven decades (and 41 years of my life), Land Rover is ending the production of the vehicle I have coveted the most, the Defender. To celebrate the end of production, Land Rover has built a landmark “Defender 2,000,000“, a bespoke defender to commemorate the two-millionth production milestone.
Land Rover invited an all-star cast to the grand reveal, including Bear Grylls, 33 of their loyal Ambassadors, and Mr. Land Rover himself, Roger Crathorne. This one-of-a-kind D90 is covered in signature markings. A 2,000,000 badge on the rear, signature plaque signed by everyone who took part in the build, and a graphic of Red Wharf Bay where it all began.
Built by Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations Team, the D90 will be auctioned off at an exclusive Bonhams Charity Auction on December 16th, just before the Defender production run ends for good. Proceeds from the sale will go to Land Rover supported charities, International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and the Born Free Foundation.
Any guesses on how much you think it will fetch, or which celebrity collector will most likely nab it? Leave your best guess in the comments!
