I’ve been using Manfrotto carbon fiber tripod legs almost exclusively for the past 10 years. They’re sturdy, stable, lightweight and handle stress extremely well. Today, Manfrotto is launching a new line of tripods called, Off Road. These ultralight tripods are engineered in collaboration with Fizan, an Italian company well known for their hiking poles. As the lightest tripods now offered by Manfrotto, they weigh only 1.43 pounds. They are designed for compact camera systems, action cameras and possibly a professional DSLR with a lightweight lens attached. Maximum payload is 2.5kg/5.51lbs.
With a diameter of just 5-inches and a collapsed length of 21-inches, they are compact enough to shove into most backpacks. Attachment and detachment are lighting fast with a new Click Wheel system. The built-in ballhead is perfect for quick positioning and easy locking. An integrated leveling bubble will be welcomed by any photographer. Keep those horizons level people!
The legs are made of lightweight aluminum tubes and close telescopically into four sections with a simple Twist-to-Lock mechanism. The legs can be removed completely so don’t worry about getting them dirty. Twist them out, clean them completely and reassemble. The feet come with spiked bases and rubber covers are also provided so you’re good both indoors and outdoors.
The Manfrotto Off Road Tripod is offered in green, red and blue and available today for $149.
