Granted, a good portion of people reading this have never heard of the Ariel Atom. The rest of you auto nuts like myself, know full well about the tube chassis, lightweight, Giant Slayer that hails from the United Kingdom. Our friends from across the pond are about the give us the Atom’s big brother, the Nomad. This sub 1,600lb machine will be loaded with a 2.4-liter, 200HP motor, mated to a 6-speed Honda transmission (most likely). Keep in mind these are renderings and everything is in rumor land until January 9th.
Early prototypes have been spotted running 15-inch wheels, 235/70 tires, and a mechanical limited-slip differential in the rear. The motor is in the back, and so is all the go-power. The Nomad will be 2 wheel drive and will likely cost around $45,000 with possible new versions coming soon (hopefully we will see a fast, 4WD model in the future).
Check back here after January 9th for more on the release of the Nomad. Until then, head over to Ariel Motor Company.
