The Goodwood Revival is unlike any other automotive event in the world. It is a celebration of vintage lifestyle spanning back to the 1940s. This years event was a special celebration of sixty years of the Jaguar D-Type and Maserati 250F. A special recreation of the Monza Pit Lane housed the wealth of Maserati 250F models on display, which completed several high speed demonstrations throughout the weekend. Other vehicles found throughout the weekend included Ferrari 250 GTOs, AC Cobras, Aston Martin DB4 GTs, Jaguar E-Types and much more. The value of these vehicles could easily have reached into the billions.
Racing throughout the weekend included everything from the closed cockpit cars of the 1960s, Saloon races for the Shelby Cup, sports racing prototypes, single-seater races for grand prix and Voiturette cars of the 1930s through 1950s, Settrington Cup for early pedal powered cars and more.
The Revival also draws top drivers and stars to the event. This year included, Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean), Nick Mason (Pink Floyd’s drummer), Mr. John Surtees, Max Chilton and many more. There is more than just automobiles on display at the event. A compliment of vintage aviation planes were on display as well as providing demonstrations. This event is great because it transports you back in time down to the last detail. The Revival is one of the few events that if you don’t dress the part, you are the odd man out.
We were fortunate to catch up with photographer Peter Aylward who photographed the entire event. Enjoy his gallery of images and then head on over to his website and twitter to stay up to date with his latest projects.
