Shannon Galpin is doing great things for women’s cycling. As an ambassador for Liv, a cycling brand completely dedicated to women, she is providing ongoing support to female Afghan cyclists. Shannon started a nonprofit, Mountain2Mountain, to empower women and girls in conflict zones and has been working in Afghanistan for the past 7 years. She is the first woman to ever mountain bike in Afghanistan in 2009. Her prowess, cycling ability and passionate dedication also lead to the creation of the Afghan Cycling Team in 2012.
Shannon is also a National Geographic Adventurer of the Year Award Winner. Her film is pushing the #pedalrevolution message. “This Saturday, August 30th, we will pedal a revolution! Bikers, cyclists, commuters, and striders will take to their wheels in solidarity with the Afghan women who dare to ride, and in remembrance of the women that dared to ride before and in doing so, paved the way for independent mobility and freedom for women around the world. Create your own ride and join us.” – Shannon
