If you’ve ever done any extensive camping, you know how nice it is to have cold food. Stopping at gas stations along your journey for bags of ice sucks. The ice melts too quickly regardless of how much your coolers marketing team says, “Keeps ice cold for up to 12 days”. ARB Fridge Freezers are essential for Overland travelers and serious explorers. I’ve had the pleasure of building several off-road vehicles for personal use and for display at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas. Nearly all of them have been loaded with an ARB Fridge Freezer unit.
After you purchase your fridge, the next step is setting it up in the back of your vehicle. To help make that job easy, ARB has just launched a new version of their popular fridge slide, the ARB Full Extension Fridge Slide. The new slide allows you to extend the tray more than the length of the fridge. This is great for those with drop down tailgates. It will hold the ARB 37 and 50 model fridges (PN 10800352.10800472).
To create the additional length of travel, the slide base is longer than the standard slide and in many installations the area behind a fridge is left void. To maximize this storage space behind the fridge, ARB designed an additional tray for storage of items such as a toolbox, recovery kit, first aid kit, water jerry can or a sealed N70 battery. The laser cut steel rear tray accommodates either a 25mm cam buckle tie down straps or a battery tie down kit.
Utilizing the same design principles as the current ARB fridge slide, it is manufactured from heavy-duty steel, precision laser cut and formed for strength and rigidity. The EZ latch mechanism is easy to operate and includes a “comfort” plastic coated handle. The latch is factory fitted to the right hand side, however its universal design allows it to be repositioned to the left hand side too. To prevent slide roll when parked on uneven ground, the slide may be latched in either the fully open or fully closed position.
To maximize the storage behind the fridge, keep the slide on the vehicle floor or on top of a low height drawer. The vehicle application list is relatively large; however some vehicles do not have sufficient depth in the rear storage area to accommodate this slide. The strategically positioned drain hole matches the ARB fridge, enabling you to extend the slide away from the inside of your vehicle and drain the fridge. The bearing guides are adjustable and feature adjustable (4-way) anti-vibration pads to prevent rattles. The existing 35L / 47L slide (PN 10900021) is still available for sale and is a perfect partner atop a full size rear storage drawer. The design of the fridge slide incorporates laser cut holes for:
• Affixing the slide to the vehicle (M8 bolts not supplied)
• Affixing the ARB fridge to the slide (M6 bolts from fridge feet)
• Attaching the M8 bolts from ARB fridge tie down brackets (PN 10900010 sold separately)
• Drainage hole which coincides with the Fridge drain port for cleaning the fridge
