We’ve seen a few compact, collapsible rifles in our day, most not worth a damn. Either they are too flimsy, fragile or too heavy to ever be truly considered compact. The Henry U.S. Survival AR-7 may change our opinion of carrying a rifle while bikepacking or backpacking. At only 3.5 lbs., the AR-7 stows inside a 16.5-inch long stock made of ABS plastic that is water- and impact-resistant. Assembly is quick, attaching the receiver to the stock, inserting the barrel, and screwing on the nut. The barrel is made of steel coated with Teflon to guard against corrosion.
Available in Black and Mossy Oak Break-Up Camo, the rifle shoots .22 LR caliber rounds using an 8 round magazine (comes with 2). Don’t think this is your “Bear defense system”, but it will help with survival when shooting small game means, “we eat today”. All Henry rifles are Made in USA.
