Yes, you can purchase a complete carbon fiber recreational vehicle, thank you for asking! Recently, Global Caravan Technologies (GCT) released to the public their plans for the CR-1, a carbon fiber RV. This fully-loaded RV will set you back $770,000, which as amazing as this may sound isn’t an unreasonable number when it comes to the world of luxury RVs.
The CR-1 is a 35-foot, tow-behind trailer that was built with technology borrowed from F1 Indy cars. Teaming up with Indycar Series builder Dallara, GCT was able to develop the ginormous pieces of carbon fiber needed to construct the 35-foot monocoque chassis. The CR-1 has no screws or fasteners, instead the entire body and monocoque are bonded together. The CR-1 weighs in at 6,000 pounds, roughly half the weight of similar sized RVs. GCT tells us they expect fuel MPG to be 100 to 150 times better than the competition.
That $770,000 will get you full-height closets, walk-through master bath, 700-watt solar power system, integrated generator, run-flat tires, adjustable-tint privacy glass and the entire vehicle can be operated from your Apple, Android or Windows smartphone. How about that. Visit GCT for more info.
