We haven’t seen much change with the design of the sleeping bag in some time. Most companies subscribe to the, “if it ain’t broke why fix it” rule. Well, Sierra Designs decided to kick things up a notch and change the game with their new Backcountry Bed. Replacing the typical mummy-zipper enclosure, this bag has a large zipperless oval-shaped opening with an integrated comforter. You will also not find any shock cords, Velcro or anything else to get in the way of your slumber. The comforter will come in handy on cold nights and can be tucked away when not needed. We really need to get our hands on one and bundle up for a night. The bag is available in 2-season (30-degree; $349) or 3-season (15-degree; $399) models. Pick one up at your local REI or online here today.
