So it looks like most of the rumors were correct. Apple did launch both the iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S today. We were really waiting for the retina screen iPad Mini to drop. Guess not. Something else that failed to get mentioned was the release date for OSX Mavericks. We really thought that would have been mentioned. I guess Apple wants to spread out their meetings more often than Steve Jobs did. The pair of new phones both look wonderful and now Apple has something for those that cannot afford the high cost of the premium iPhone models.
iOS7 was also mentioned and will be available to download on Sept 18.
Let’s talk about the iPhone 5S first. In case you missed the conference today, here is the quick jab 1-2.

Will come in Gold, Space Grey and Silver (no more White)
New A7 chip said to be more than twice as fast as the current iPhone 5 A6 chip
Battery life was also mentioned to have been improved but no numbers were announced
New f/2.2 camera with dual LED flash (cool and warm)
Comes with iOS7 built-in
Fingerprint scanner home button for security
Will cost you $199 for the 16GB and $299 for the 32GB on contract

Apple has a good comparison chart up to help you decide which model to get, here. I don’t think we will be replacing our current iPhone 5’s for either of these but both sure seem to have a lot going for them. Once a few of our friends start showing off their new phones, that last sentence may be a lie.
