Over the weekend, Rhys Millen set the world’s fastest time up Pikes Peak in 9 minutes and 46 seconds. Last summer, I drove up to the Peak and I think it took me around an hour. Ha! Traffic aside, there are so many tight, blind corners covering this 13 mile climb its hard to imagine someone can do it in less than 10 minutes. Not to knock him, well okay maybe a little, this was the first year the course was 100% paved. So, there is already a littering of hot debates across racing forums whether or not Rhys should get credit for the time. Or, if a new paved course record should be separate from the previous record when the course also covered a lot of dirt. (Photo courtesy of Hyundai)
Regardless of your take, checkout this video and get blown away at the sheer speed he takes hot corners.
