Most everyone reading this has already seen the new Batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises. Tom Hardy did an excellent job portraying another bat villain in Bane. Though I am not too pleased with how “comical” they made his voice through the mask. Almost as bad as Batman’s “I just drank a bottle of bleach” raspy speech. He did an equally great job in Inception, a slightly better job in Warrior and was even pretty good in Layer Cake. By the way, if you haven’t seen Layer Cake do yourself a favor and rent it. His best performance thus far, in my opinion, was his work as Michael Peterson / Charles Bronson in Bronson.
The movie takes us through the journey of a rather disturbed young man who gets sentenced to prison for 7 years after robbing a post office for chump change. He ends up spending nearly 30 years in solitary confinement after beating up numerous guards. At one point they even try throwing him in the looney bin with hopes of reform. Turns out, he is a lost soul and eventually drops his born name of Michael Peterson and takes on his alter ego Charles Bronson for the remainder of his life. If you have Netflix, its on there. You can also find it on iTunes. Checkout the trailer below.
Tom Hardy's best performance yet.
